As one year closes and another begins, a different kind of journey is calling. In partnership with The Equity Alliance & Career Thrivers, Conscious Immersion Ghana is a curated 10-day leadership & cultural immersion designed for civic, nonprofit & community leaders who are ready to go deeper into history, into themselves & into the global African diaspora. This experience is invitation-only & limited to 20 participants. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.

What You Will Carry Home

Conscious Immersion Ghana is designed to produce a specific kind of transformation. Participants do not simply visit Ghana; they encounter it, engage it & carry it forward. You will leave with:

• Expanded global identity. From the dungeons of Cape Coast Castle to a sunrise on the Atlantic on New Year's Day, you will encounter the full arc of the African Diaspora, from its most painful chapter to its most joyful expression. This is not education. It is a transformation at the level of identity.

• Sharpened strategic perspective. Engage with Ghanaian leaders across government, civil society & social enterprise to learn lessons in leadership & community power that apply directly to your work back home.

• Grounded cultural intelligence. From a traditional naming ceremony to New Year's Eve at the heart of Detty December, you will develop an embodied understanding of Ghanaian culture that no book or documentary can provide.

• A committed leadership action. The program closes with every participant articulating one concrete commitment they are carrying home. This is how immersion becomes impact.

• Cross-border relationships that last. Conscious Immersion cohort members have returned to Ghana, launched partnerships & deepened institutional collaborations long after the trip ends. The relationships built in 10 days can last forever.

Program Investment

The investment for this experience is $6,000 per person. This reflects peak Detty December pricing in Ghana, where hotel & ground transportation costs are significantly higher than off-peak rates. It includes hotel accommodations for all 9 nights, all ground transportation in Ghana, all programmed activities & site visits & your welcome & closing dinners. International round-trip flights, the Ghana Visa (~$100–$150), travel immunizations & personal meals are not included.

A $500 non-refundable deposit is required within 7 days of acceptance to hold your seat. The remaining balance is due October 27, 2026.

Scholarship funding is available through The Equity Alliance for qualifying participants. You may indicate scholarship interest directly on the application & it will be considered as part of your review.

Before You Apply

This program requires commitment to the full dates: December 27, 2026, through January 5, 2027. Partial attendance is not available. You will need a valid U.S. passport through at least July 2027 & a yellow fever vaccination, which is required for entry into Ghana. We recommend securing travel insurance once your seat is confirmed.
