Day 1 - July 17

Welcome Home - Arriving with Intention

Upon arrival in Accra, students will be greeted with a warm Ghanaian welcome that sets the tone for the week ahead. After transferring to the hotel, participants will have time to rest, refresh, and adjust to the new environment. That evening, the group will gather for a shared dinner designed to begin building trust, connection, and sisterhood. Facilitators will guide introductions, outline expectations, and establish a supportive community culture rooted in respect, care, and curiosity. Students will be invited to reflect on their hopes for the journey and begin setting personal intentions for growth and discovery.

Day 2 - July 18

Understanding Ghana - Accra City Tour

This day introduces students to Ghana through a guided exploration of Accra, the nation’s capital and cultural heartbeat. Participants will learn about Ghana’s history, political evolution, and everyday life while observing how tradition and modernity coexist. The experience encourages curiosity and cultural awareness as students begin to see themselves in relation to the broader African Diaspora. In the evening, the group will attend a welcome dinner and cultural performance celebrating Ghanaian music, dance, and storytelling. Our hosts will formally welcome the cohort with “Woezor,” inviting students to approach the experience with pride.

Days 3 & 4 - July 19-20

Sankofa - Remembering Our Roots

The group will travel to Cape Coast for a thoughtfully facilitated day of reflection and learning. At Assin Manso, students will learn about the Last Bath site and participate in a naming ceremony centered on renewal, dignity, and remembrance. Students will visit Cape Coast Castle for a guided, age-appropriate exploration of its historical significance and global impact. Conversations will focus on resilience, strength, and the importance of remembering history while shaping the future. The return to Accra will offer time for rest, reflection, and group check-in.

Day 5 - July 21

Leadership in Action: Learning from Innovators

This day highlights leadership expressed through entrepreneurship, education, and innovation. Students will visit Crescendo Foods to engage with local entrepreneurs who will share their stories, challenges, and lessons learned while building businesses in Ghana. A small business showcase will expose participants to creativity, problem-solving, and community-centered enterprise. Later, the group will visit Ashesi University, one of Africa’s leading institutions for ethical leadership, where students will tour the campus and participate in dialogue about values-driven leadership, education pathways, and global opportunity.

Day 6 - July 22

relaxation AND restoration

After a week of learning and reflection, this day is designed to restore energy and celebrate joy. Following breakfast, students will choose between two guided experiences: a creative exploration of Ghana’s art, media, and cultural expression, or a supervised beach day focused on relaxation and reflection. Both options emphasize balance, wellness, and self-care. In the evening, the group will gather for a farewell dinner honoring the growth, connections, and sisterhood formed throughout the journey. Closing reflections and affirmations will help students recognize their development and celebrate one another.

Days 7 - July 23

Carrying It Forward: Departure and Reflection

On the final morning, students will gather for breakfast and a closing circle to reflect on their experiences, lessons learned, and personal growth. Facilitators will guide conversations on how to carry the insights, confidence, and connections gained in Ghana into everyday life and leadership back home. After leisure time and final preparations, airport transfers will ensure a smooth and supported departure. While the journey in Ghana concludes, students will leave with a lasting sense of belonging, purpose, and connection to the African Diaspora.
