Day 1 - May 29
Welcome Home – Embracing Ghana’s Spirit
Arrive in Accra and feel the warmth of Ghanaian hospitality from the moment you step off the plane. After a seamless hotel transfer and time to rest, gather with fellow travelers for a welcome dinner, where you’ll set intentions for the journey and prepare to embark on an experience that blends culture, education, and innovation.
Day 2 - May 30
Accra city tour & school visits
Get oriented in one of Africa's most dynamic capitals. The day begins with a guided tour of Accra's most significant landmarks, including Independence Arch, Black Star Square, and the Kwame Nkrumah Mausoleum, sites that tell the story of African sovereignty and pan-African thought. The afternoon moves into Ghana's education system with visits to local schools where you'll observe teaching, meet students your age, and begin building context for the days ahead.
Day 3 - May 31
Sankofa: Origins & reflection
Travel to Assin Manso, site of the Last Bath, where enslaved Africans were forced to cleanse before being marched to the coast. It is one of the most solemn and significant sites connected to the African Diaspora. In the afternoon, take part in a traditional Akan naming ceremony, a ritual of ancestral reclamation and belonging. The day ends at an oceanfront resort in Elmina, with guided reflection on identity, history, and what it means to return to the Motherland.
Day 4 - June 1
cape coast: lessons from the past
Walk through Cape Coast Castle and confront the architecture of the transatlantic slave trade directly. The dungeons, the courtyards, and the Door of No Return are not just historical artifacts. They are a call to understand where you come from and why education, leadership, and global awareness matter. Facilitated reflection follows the visit before the group returns to Accra during the evening.
Day 5 - june 2
Education & Youth Development
Spend the day moving through primary, secondary, and community learning spaces across Accra. Sit in on classes, talk with teachers and administrators, and observe how Ghana is integrating STEM, entrepreneurship, and digital tools into its curriculum. These visits are designed to challenge assumptions, offer unique insights, and sharpen your lens on education as both a local and global challenge.
Day 6 - June 3
Education & Youth Development
The morning is spent at the University of Ghana at Legon, the nation's oldest public university, connecting with students, faculty, and administrators about academic life, research, and career pathways in Ghana. The afternoon moves to the eLearning Africa Conference, where participants engage with the continent's leading conversation on digital learning and skills development. This is a rare room for undergraduate and graduate students to be in.
Day 7 - june 4
Reflection & Accra at Your Own Pace
A final opportunity to explore Accra at your own pace and revisit your favorite places. Visit Labadi Beach, return to a site that moved you, or simply take time to process the week. The day closes with a farewell dinner, your last evening together as a cohort, and a chance to reflect on what you've seen, learned, and begun to understand about yourself and the world. The day closes with preparations for departure day.
Day 8 - june 5
Closing Reflections & Departures
Spend your final morning in Accra with time to reflect and recharge before departure. Guests may opt for a wellness-focused morning along the coast for journaling and personal reflection. In the afternoon, we’ll gather for a celebratory closing meal with innovation partners, sharing takeaways and committing to next steps that will carry the journey forward. The program concludes with airport transfers for departing flights, but departures are more than goodbyes; they mark the beginning of sustained engagement with Ghana and the global African Diaspora.
