Day 1 - May 29
Welcome Home – Embracing Ghana’s Spirit
Arrive in Accra and feel the warmth of Ghanaian hospitality from the moment you step off the plane. After a seamless hotel transfer and time to rest, gather with fellow travelers for a welcome dinner, where you’ll set intentions for the journey and prepare to embark on an experience that blends culture, education, and innovation.
Day 2 - May 30
Accra city tour & school visits
Experience the vibrant energy of Ghana’s capital with an immersive Accra City Tour that blends history, culture, and modern-day innovation. From the iconic Independence Arch and Black Star Square, symbols of Ghana’s liberation, this tour offers a compelling narrative of the nation's journey. Along the way, gain insight into Accra’s political, cultural, and economic heartbeat, while enjoying the sounds, flavors, and warmth of one of Africa’s most dynamic cities.
Day 3 - May 31
Sankofa: Origins & reflection
Journey along Ghana’s scenic coastline toward Cape Coast, pausing at Assin Manso, the hallowed site of the Last Bath. Here, enslaved Africans were forced to cleanse before their final march to the coast. The visit provides space for reflection on history and resilience. In the afternoon, take part in a traditional Akan naming ceremony, a symbolic homecoming ritual that restores ancestral identity and belonging for members of the Diaspora. The day concludes with check-in at an oceanfront resort in Elmina, where evening reflections connect the experience to themes of identity, heritage, and leadership.
Day 4 - June 1
cape coast: lessons from the past
Begin the day with a guided visit to Cape Coast Castle, one of Ghana’s most powerful historical landmarks. Walking through its dungeons, courtyards, and the infamous Door of No Return, participants confront the profound legacy of the transatlantic slave trade. Facilitated group reflections will help process the experience, drawing lessons on perseverance, human dignity, and the responsibility of education to illuminate truth. Afterward, we’ll return to Accra for rest and renewal, carrying forward the insights of this powerful encounter.
Day 5 - june 2
Education & Youth Development
Deepen your understanding of Ghana’s educational system through visits to primary, secondary, and post-secondary institutions. Step into classrooms, observe teaching, and engage school leaders on instructional strategies, teacher development, and family engagement. Discover how schools are integrating STEM, digital learning, and entrepreneurship education to prepare students for a rapidly changing world.
Day 6 - June 3
Education & Youth Development
The first half of the day will be spent touring the University of Ghana at Legon, the nation’s oldest public university., to connect with students and learn about higher education in Ghana. Later in the day, the group will engage with the eLearning Africa Conference to learn about digital learning, training, and skills development practices across Africa.
Day 7 - june 4
Education & Youth Development
On the last full day in Ghana, the group will have another opportunity to attend the eLearning Africa Conference. This day will be a chance to see Accra at your own pace. Guests may opt to enjoy time at nearby Labadi Beach or return to other sites visited along the journey. The day will close with a farewell dinner, offering an opportunity to reflect on the journey.
Day 8 - june 5
Closing Reflections & Departures
Spend your final morning in Accra with time to reflect and recharge before departure. Guests may opt for a wellness-focused morning along the coast for journaling and personal reflection. In the afternoon, we’ll gather for a celebratory closing meal with innovation partners, sharing takeaways and committing to next steps that will carry the journey forward. The program concludes with airport transfers for departing flights, but departures are more than goodbyes; they mark the beginning of sustained engagement with Ghana and the global African Diaspora.
