NOVEMBER 8-15, 2026
HEALTH, HEALING & WELLNESS
Day 1 - NOVEMBER 8
Welcome Home – ARRIVING IN ACCRA
Arrive in Accra and experience the warmth of Ghana from the moment you land. After a seamless transfer to your hotel, rest and recharge before gathering with your fellow healthcare professionals for a welcome dinner. Dr. Isaac Addae and your co-hosts will set the context for the journey ahead, framing the week through the lens of healing, heritage, and purposeful service. Come ready to connect, reflect, and engage.
Day 2 - NOVEMBER 9
WELLNESS HIKE & GHANA'S PUBLIC HEALTH SYSTEM
The day opens with a morning wellness hike through the lush Aburi Botanical Gardens — a grounding experience that anchors the Wellness pillar of this immersion before the clinical work begins. From Aburi, the group descends into Accra for an orientation tour of the city before the afternoon's visit to a major public hospital in the Greater Accra Region. A facilitated dialogue with Ghanaian nurses, physicians, and hospital administrators opens a window into how Ghana's national health system operates, with conversation spanning resource allocation, patient volume, and the opportunities for diaspora contribution.
DayS 3 & 4 - NOVEMBER 10-11
CAPE COAST CASTLE & THE LAST BATH
Travel along Ghana's coastline to Cape Coast, arriving for one of the most profound experiences of the journey — a visit to the Last Bath, the site where enslaved Africans bathed before their final march to the sea. The visit is followed by a facilitated clinical dialogue that connects what participants have just witnessed to the enduring health impacts of slavery on diaspora communities. The following morning brings a visit to a rural coastal community health center — peer dialogue with Ghanaian health workers in a resource-constrained setting that reframes what community health looks like at the ground level. The group then proceeds to Cape Coast Castle, walking through the dungeons and the Door of No Return in a guided tour that connects the origins of health inequity to the clinical work participants carry home. The group returns to Accra in the evening.
Day 5 - NOVEMBER 12
NURSING EXCHANGE & TRADITIONAL HEALING
A full day of professional dialogue begins at a Ghanaian nursing school or medical faculty institution, where U.S. and Ghanaian healthcare professionals engage in a facilitated exchange on curriculum standards, scope of practice, sickle cell research, and global health disparities. Ghana has one of the world's highest rates of the sickle cell trait, and this conversation grounds the academic exchange in a shared clinical reality. The afternoon shifts to traditional and herbal medicine practitioners, exploring how Ghana's holistic healing traditions complement and challenge Western approaches to care.
DayS 6 & 7 - NOVEMBER 13-14
THE VOLTA REGION — ANFOEGA CATHOLIC HOSPITAL
Travel east to the Volta Region — one of Ghana's most breathtaking landscapes. Upon arrival, the group proceeds to Anfoega Catholic Hospital. Participants tour the facility, meet with hospital staff and administrators, and engage in dialogue about what the Addae Family Foundation's Volta Healthcare Campaign means for the communities that have long relied on this institution. The following morning, the campaign becomes real — the group joins the Addae Family Foundation in the medical supply handoff, distributing donated supplies to health facilities across the North Dayi District. After community engagement and a cultural experience in the region, the group returns to Accra for a celebratory closing dinner.
Days 8 - NOVEMBER 15
CLOSING REFLECTIONS & DEPARTURES
Spend your final morning in Accra with time to reflect and recharge before departure. Guests may opt for a wellness-focused morning along the coast for journaling and personal reflection. The program concludes with airport transfers for departing flights — but departures are more than goodbyes. They mark the beginning of sustained engagement with Ghana, with the communities you served, and with the questions this journey has opened in your professional and personal life.
